Ethio telecom CEO Frehiwot Tamru hosted a high-level strategic discussion with H.E. Ambassador Sem Fabrizi, Ambassador of Italy to Ethiopia, focused on strengthening and accelerating collaboration between Ethio telecom and Italian companies to advance shared goals of digital transformation and inclusive national development.
The discussion emphasized expanding partnerships with Italian institutions and companies to support the implementation of Ethio telecom’s “Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028” strategy. Among the ongoing engagements, both parties reviewed progress made with Ascot Energy, particularly in advancing energy efficiency and green infrastructure initiatives, which are key pillars of the company’s commitment to sustainable and efficient telecom operations.
The CEO and H.E. Ambassador also discussed practical measures to accelerate the implementation of joint initiatives that enhance energy resilience, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability across telecom infrastructure.
In addition, the meeting reviewed ongoing collaboration with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), Italy’s development finance institution, focusing on strengthening financing support for major Next Horizon strategic initiatives, including large-scale digital infrastructure and sustainable energy programs. Both sides explored ways to further deepen engagement with additional Italian companies and financial institutions to mobilize resources and expertise that will support Ethiopia’s broader digital transformation agenda.
H.E. Ambassador Sem Fabrizi commended Ethio telecom’s transformative role in Ethiopia’s socio-economic development and reaffirmed Italy’s continued support in facilitating stronger partnerships between Italian enterprises and Ethio telecom.
