Ethio telecom demonstrates its Social Responsibility Commitment through Exercise Book donations and Financial support to charity organizations!

Our company is committed to realizing the recently launched ‘NEXT HORIZON Strategy’ which re-envisions its role in shaping Ethiopia’s digital future and expanding inclusive growth across Africa. In parallel with this target, our company is actively and extensively involved in significant corporate social responsibility including charity related initiatives.

Our company is consistently discharging its corporate social responsibility under the “Hopes of Tomorrow” initiative, which it has designed and implemented annually. Our company has also donated exercise book supports aimed at assisting low-income communities across all parts of our country for this year, under “Hopes of Tomorrow” initiative.

In line with this, for the 2018 E.C academic year under the theme “Hopes of Tomorrow,” our company donated dozens of exercise books to 80,000 students each in Addis Ababa and all Ethio telecom regions in selected elementary schools across the country, investing more than 98.8 million ETB.

Including this year’s efforts, our company has consistently provided exercise book support for the past six consecutive years under the “Hopes for Tomorrow” program, targeting low-income communities across all parts of our country. In total, it has supported 373,000 primary school students, spending over 320.8 million ETB to date.

On the same day, our company provided financial support to 39 local charity organizations located in various parts of our country under the theme of “Kindness/Generosity”. Based on this, it has provided financial support of over 47.8 million Birr to 13,674 elderly, children, mothers, vulnerable individuals, and people with disabilities in these charity organizations. Including this year’s efforts, over the past four consecutive years, in a similar “Kindness/Generosity”  programs, it has supported 32,700 elderly, children, mothers, vulnerable individuals, and people with disabilities in 117 charity organizations across the country, with total support exceeding 78.8 million ETB.

Moreover, our company facilitated a blood donation program under the theme of “Humanity!” in collaboration with the National Blood Bank. Accordingly, our voluntary employees and management members from corporate, zonal, and regional offices participated by donating blood, an esteemed gift that helps save lives within our community that took place at our 19 centers across the country.

In addition to implementing the latest telecom technologies, enhancing its digital solutions, and introducing new and affordable telecom products and services to significantly impact society, our company will continue to fulfill its corporate social responsibility and remain dedicated to actively and comprehensively addressing various social issues that positively affect our community and the country as a whole.
