Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, December 19, 2025– As part of our commitment to digitally revolutionize the nation’s trade ecosystem, our company recently unveiled the ‘Zemen GEBEYA‘ platform on telebirr SuperApp. By providing a comprehensive and inclusive digital marketplace, the platform plays a pivotal role in accelerating the national digital economy, specifically by facilitating seamless market access and empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to become more competitive.
Today, our company is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in partnership with the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC). This agreement enables manufacturers within industrial parks to onboard on Zemen GEBEYA and, for the first time, offer products designed for the international market to domestic consumers.
This partnership not only empowers industrial park manufacturers to make their export-standard products extensively and efficiently accessible but also significantly reduces operational costs. This is achieved through a digital transaction system guided by a fully data-driven, modern inventory and logistics management framework.
The major industrial products available for trading/transaction via Zemen GEBEYA include:
- Textile and Clothing: Export-standard clothing, textiles, and garments;
- Leather and Leather Products: Leather products known as Ethiopian Highland Leather, bags, and fashion accessories;
- Agro-processing Products: Value-added agricultural products, oilseeds, coffee, and food products;
- Electronics and Technology Products: Mobile phones, tablets, home appliances (TVs, refrigerators), and energy products;
- Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies: Medicines and various medical aid equipment;
- Chemical and Construction Inputs: Chemicals used for various industries, fertilizers, and construction materials; and
- Other Manufacturing Products: Including ceramic and wood products.
This agreement primarily encompasses the following frameworks of collaboration:
- Registering and engaging manufacturers under the Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) on the Zemen GEBEYA digital trading system;
- Creating favorable conditions for various products produced in industrial parks to be offered to the local market using the digital system;
- Implementing logistics, order management, and digital payment systems from initial order to final transaction;
- Reliably ensuring the implementation of digital transformation within the industrial parks’ ecosystem.
Furthermore, this partnership framework will play an indispensable role in modernizing the country’s business ecosystem by building the digital skills of manufacturers, promoting their products on Zemen GEBEYA, and establishing reliable market linkages and market intelligence systems.
In line with our “NEXT HORIZON: Digital & Beyond 2028 Strategy,” our company remains committed to modernizing the manufacturing sector and the overall business ecosystem. We strive to make it more inclusive and accessible by strengthening our delivery of reliable and efficient services to the business community and consumers, thereby accelerating the building of our country’s digital economy.
