Ethio telecom and Saudi Telecom Explore Strategic Partnership for Business Expansion and Diversification
Ethio telecom had the honor of hosting a high-level delegation from Saudi Telecom Company (STC), led by Engr. Ziad Hamad A. AlHasson, Vice President of Sales Carrier & Wholesale, and Mr. Bander A. Alkhodair, Carrier Sales Director. The visit marked a significant step in deepening the partnership between the two operators, with discussions focused on expanding existing business collaborations, unlocking new growth engines, and diversifying digital services.
The high-level meeting was chaired by Ethio telecom CEO, Frehiwot Tamru, who emphasized that “there are many areas where we can collaborate and explore new sources of growth for our mutual benefit, opportunities that will ultimately advance our nations’ digital transformation and accelerate the development of a more inclusive digital economy.”
Discussions explored concrete strategies to expand digital infrastructure capabilities, wholesale business cooperation, and digital financial services integration. In particular, both parties agreed to leverage telebirr and STC Pay platforms to boost digital financial offerings, strengthen cross-border remittance and payment ecosystems, and create enhanced value for customers.
The STC delegation commended Ethio telecom’s strong performance and proven execution capacity, recognizing its success in delivering transformative projects over the past six years and in driving Ethiopia’s digital transformation journey.
By aligning resources and leveraging synergies, Ethio telecom and STC are well-positioned to expand their wholesale and carrier partnerships, while also unlocking new opportunities in fintech, remittances, diversified digital solutions, and broader business expansion. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing digital inclusion, innovation, and sustainable economic growth in an increasingly interconnected world.
