Ethio telecom and High-Level Uganda Delegation Engage in Strategic Partnership Talks for Digital Empowerment

Our company, Ethio Telecom was honored to host a high-level delegation led by Hon. Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs. The visit offered a remarkable opportunity to showcase our cutting-edge technological advancements and our human-centered vision for shaping a smarter, more connected, inclusive, and digitally empowered Ethiopia.

The delegation was particularly impressed by Ethio telecom’s innovative initiatives in smart cities, smart agriculture, smart mining, smart education and beyond. They described their experience as insightful and expressed strong confidence that partnership with us could play a pivotal role in tackling national challenges through technology.

Following a comprehensive tour of our state-of-the-art experience center, data center, smart city building initiatives including Ethiopia’s first electric vehicle charging station, we engaged in a highly productive discussion.

Our CEO, Ms. Frehiwot Tamru, reaffirmed that Ethio telecom’s mission extends far beyond network expansion. As a human-centric company, we are committed to empowering communities, government, and enterprises to boost productivity, create meaningful job opportunities, and deliver lasting value for both current and future generations, contributing to a prosperous and digitally empowered Ethiopia.

Speaking as an African, she emphasized that now is the time to work together to reshape Africa’s future: transforming challenges into opportunities, harnessing and leveraging technology to unlock Africa’s abundant natural resources, and building a connected, digitally empowered, inclusive, and prosperous continent. Together, we can shape Africa’s journey into an empowered, connected, thriving, and globally competitive future.

Our discussions explored potential areas of partnership, including Smart City solutions, Digital Payment platforms, Telecom and Digital Infrastructure Development, as well as Capacity Building, Knowledge Transfer, and Experience Sharing.

We firmly believe that this collaboration can co-create impactful, future-ready solutions that will directly contribute to Uganda’s Vision 2040 and advance the smart urban development aspirations of Kampala.
